ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The United States strongly rejects the crazy idea of two Israeli ministers who want to move Palestinians out of Gaza. This rhetoric is considered inflammatory and irresponsible.
“We have been informed repeatedly and consistently from the Israeli government, including by the Prime Minister, that such statements do not reflect Israeli government policy. “This statement must be stopped immediately,” stressed US State Department Spokesperson, Matthew Miller, broadcast by the US Embassy in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 3 2024.
The US reiterates its firm and consistent stance that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land.
The country with the largest economy in the world also emphasized that Hamas is not involved with the future of the land, and that there are no terrorist groups that could threaten Israel.
“That is the future we hope for, for the benefit of Israelis and Palestinians, the region and the world,” Miller explained.
For the record, the two statements referred to as rhetoric came from Israeli Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir.
Smotrich, one of the senior figures in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition, on Sunday, December 31 2023, called on Palestinians in Gaza to leave the territory. Then, Minister of National Security Ben Gvir also said that the war in Gaza provided an opportunity to concentrate on encouraging migration of the Gaza population.
Previously, Smotrich’s right-wing Religious Zionism party won the support of Israel’s settler community and helped Netanyahu gain the majority needed to become prime minister for the sixth time last year.
Ben-Gvir’s statements also annoyed US President Joe Biden, saying that the Israeli minister and his allies wanted to carry out “revenge” against all Palestinians. (AT Network)
