Two Indonesian Students Win 11 Medals at the United States World Scholar’s Cup

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Two Indonesian students, Aisha Kintan Katiluna and Neby Raihana Zahra won a number of medals at the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions on November 8 2023 which was held at Yale University, United States.

These two students, who are also brothers, competed in the United States from November 2 to 8 2023 and won a total of 11 medals.

“We are touched and proud to be able to join the international arena and be able to compete with students from all over the world in the final round,” said Aisha in a written statement received, Friday (10/11/2023).

Aisha, who was born in Bandung, West Java, July 18 2010, is a grade 8 student at Binus School Simprug Middle School and won 7 medals, namely a gold medal in the writing essay category and a gold medal in the team bowl category.

Meanwhile, the silver medals he won were in the science, literature, special subject, team countdown and ‘scholars challenge’ categories.

Meanwhile, his younger brother Neby, who was born in Jakarta on December 14 2011, is a 6th grade student at Binus School Simprug Elementary School, who won four silver medals for the cria award, team debate, essay writing and scholars bowl.

Aisha hopes that the valuable knowledge and experience they gain will be useful in the future and can be shared with friends in Indonesia.

“Hopefully later we can return to our country and inspire our Indonesian friends. We are proud to be part of the generation that is ready to bring Indonesia to gold,” said Aisha.

Meanwhile, Duma Intan Karenina, the mother of the two students, explained that participation in this world student competition was their own initiative.

“All of this is greatly influenced by the children’s motivation, because participation in this world student competition is their own initiative,” he said.

The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions (TOC) was attended by more than 45 countries and involved more than 1,600 middle/high school students from all over the world, taking place at Yale University, USA from 2 to 8 November 2023.

In total, more than 1,600 students from 45 countries participated in this tournament, which involved various competitions such as team debate, collaborative writing, challenge, and scholar’s bowl.

Apart from academic competitions, there are also non-academic activities such as scavenger hunts and culture fairs. (AT Network)
