ASIATODAY.ID, BALI – The National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia revealed a clandestine laboratory controlled by foreign nationals in Gianyar, Bali.
Deputy for Eradication of the National Narcotics Agency, Inspector General of Police. I Wayan Sugiri said that the secret laboratory produced narcotics and a new type of drug, namely the Class 1 narcotic Dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
In disclosing this case, the National Narcotics Agency arrested three people from the Philippines, namely a man with the initials DAS (28) and two women with the initials PMS (DAS mother) and DOS (DAS sister).
“Currently, DAS has been named a suspect, while the other two people are still witnesses. “The DAS suspect played a role in producing narcotics, while a Jordanian citizen with the initials AMI is still being pursued,” he said in Gianyar, Bali, Tuesday, July 23 2024.
Sugiri explained that the disclosure of the clandestine laboratory began when the Joint Team carried out an investigation on Thursday, July 18 2024, at around 15.45 WITA.
The National Narcotics Agency team conducted a search of a villa in the Keliki Kawan Payangan area, Gianyar, Bali, which was suspected to be a illegal narcotics laboratory.
From the search, officers found a tent made of tarpaulin located in front of the villa on a steep road.
“In the tent, chemicals were found along with laboratory equipment, such as measuring glasses, beakers, magnetic stirrers and other equipment,” he said.
Apart from that, in the kitchen of the villa, the team found a jar and a plastic container containing clear liquid which were stored in the refrigerator. After laboratory examination, the liquid was found to contain the narcotic type DMT.

On Sunday, July 21 2024 at around 16.00 WITA, the National Narcotics Agency Team then carried out developments by searching a house in the Raya Bunutan area, Kedewatan, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali, which was suspected to be where the suspect AMI lived.
When the search was carried out, AMI was not in the house he had rented since 2023. AMI is known to be abroad.
During a search carried out at the house, the National Narcotics Agency Team found evidence in the form of chemicals and several tools which were allegedly used to make DMT narcotics.
There was evidence that was the same as the chemical found at DAS’s house which was packaged in a small bottle containing a thick, yellowish liquid. Based on laboratory test results, the contents of the liquid in the small bottle contained the narcotic type DMT.
The suspect was charged under Article 114 (2), subsidiary to Article 113 (2), more subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment. (ANT)
