ILLEGAL CLIMBING: Russian Tourist Missing on Mount Rinjani

ASIATODAY.ID, MATARAM – A tourist from Russia named Mordovina Alexandra (44) was reported missing while climbing Mount Rinjani illegally.

The joint Search and Resque team had to use drones to search for victims.

“Since Friday, September 13, we have been searching by climbing the Senaru route. While searching using drones, there are two points being monitored by air, namely around Sangkareang Peak and Santong Valley,” said the Head of Mataram Search and Resque, Wahyu, Sunday. , September 15, 2024.

However, so far no sign of the victim has been found. Wahyu said that until now the search was still being carried out optimally together with the Mount Rinjani National Park Office, military and police personnel, porters, fellow victims and other related parties.

“The victim has not been at his accommodation in Senaru, North Lombok since August 30 2024 and is thought to have disappeared while climbing,” he said.

A search team has been formed together with joint forces, with searches at several location points, including the Senaru-Plawangan Senaru route (Radius ± 7KM), Plawangan Senaru-Sangkareang Route (Radius + 2KM), Plawangan Senaru – Batu Ceper Route (Radius 2KM) and Plawangan Senaru route – Santong route (Radius ± 3KM).

The victim is estimated to have climbed on August 30 2024 at around 04.00 WITA in the morning because the victim had told his colleagues that he was climbing via WhatsApp chat.

“If the victim has not been found within four days, we will carry out evaluation, coordination and communication with related parties to collaborate in searching for this missing Russian citizen,” he said. (AT Network)
