Indonesian Embassy in Moscow Inaugurates Rumah Nusantara

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Russia, has officially inaugurated Rumah Nusantara, a center dedicated to promoting Indonesian education and culture on the global stage. The inauguration took place on May 2, 2025, coinciding with Indonesia’s National Education Day.

In an official statement received in Jakarta on Monday, May 5, 2025, Indonesian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, emphasized that the establishment of Rumah Nusantara is a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s educational diplomacy and cultural diplomacy, particularly in Russia.

“This is a historic and significant day. With the presence of Rumah Nusantara, I hope the international community—especially here in Russia—will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage,” Ambassador Tavares said.

He stressed that Rumah Nusantara will serve as a bridge to enhance Indonesia–Russia cooperation in the fields of education and culture, fostering even stronger bilateral relations between the two nations.

“Launching this center on National Education Day is the perfect momentum. I am confident Rumah Nusantara at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow will become an innovative platform to fortify diplomatic ties, particularly in education,” he added.

Ambassador Tavares also encouraged Indonesian students in Russia to take full advantage of Rumah Nusantara to develop their skills and knowledge, contributing to Indonesia’s future development.

“Seize this golden opportunity to grow and contribute to Indonesia. We should follow the example of countries like Singapore and Japan, which have advanced thanks to the strength of their human resources,” he urged.

The inauguration of Rumah Nusantara at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow was attended by Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, Berlian Helmy; Head of Information and Cultural Affairs, Nanang S. Fadilah; Education and Cultural Attaché, Khoirul Rosyadi; members of the Indonesian Student Association in Moscow (Permira Moscow); and Russian students from MGIMO University, Moscow.

Deputy Ambassador Berlian Helmy expressed his enthusiasm for the establishment of Rumah Nusantara, hoping it will become a vibrant space for Indonesian educational and cultural diplomacy in Russia.

“Our next task is to fill Rumah Nusantara with a variety of positive and impactful programs,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Education and Cultural Attaché, Khoirul Rosyadi—who also spearheaded the Rumah Nusantara initiative—conveyed his gratitude to the embassy leadership for their support.

“We are deeply grateful to Ambassador Tavares and Deputy Ambassador Helmy for facilitating the establishment of Rumah Nusantara. We hope this support motivates us to continuously contribute to Indonesia’s educational and cultural diplomacy in Russia,” he stated.

As part of the event, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, in collaboration with the Indonesian Student Association in Russia (Permos), presented the Ki Hajar Dewantara Award to Indonesian students in Russia who have achieved outstanding international accomplishments. This award underscores the embassy’s commitment to supporting young Indonesian talents abroad. (AT Network)
