ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto underscored the strategic role of BRICS as a vital pillar of global stability amid intensifying geopolitical uncertainty.
He delivered his remarks during the BRICS Leaders Virtual Meeting, which he attended from his private residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Monday, Sept 8, 2025.
In his statement, President Prabowo highlighted that multilateralism is facing a serious test as the world grapples with growing instability. Yet, with BRICS representing more than 55 percent of the world’s population and over 40 percent of global GDP, the bloc has emerged as a powerful balancing force.
“Indonesia views BRICS as a strong pillar of stability and hope in today’s international geopolitical landscape,” President Prabowo said.
The Head of State further emphasized that BRICS has evolved into a global powerhouse with the largest economies, biggest markets, and abundant natural resources. Indonesia, he added, fully supports BRICS in its mission to act as a driving force toward a fairer and more balanced world order.
President Prabowo also called for greater openness, coordination, and closer cooperation among member states to address global uncertainties.
“We must continue to consult each other more frequently and work more closely together,” he stressed.
Through its active participation, Indonesia is reaffirming its commitment to strengthening solidarity within BRICS while promoting a more inclusive, just, and sustainable international cooperation framework. (AT Network)
