ASIATODAY.ID, KUALA LUMPUR – President Prabowo attended the 13th ASEAN–U.S. Summit alongside regional leaders to discuss strategic cooperation between Southeast Asia and the United States.
In his speech, President Trump commended President Prabowo for his leadership and support in saving millions of lives, particularly in conflict-affected areas such as Gaza.
“We have signed a strong agreement involving 59 nations, many of whom are seated at this table. For example, Indonesia—my new friend. Thank you for your help. We truly appreciate it,” President Trump stated.
President Trump went on to express his gratitude for Indonesia’s role in promoting peace across the Middle East.
“I want to thank Malaysia and Brunei, and also my friend, President Prabowo of Indonesia, for their extraordinary efforts in securing a new day for the Middle East,” he said.
“This is truly a new day. There has never been a time like this. The Middle East will finally know peace after 3,000 years. This is a strong and lasting peace—an enduring peace,” President Trump continued.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo welcomed the United States’ active engagement in strengthening relations and cooperation with ASEAN. He emphasized that U.S. involvement brings constructive benefits both for the region and for the United States itself.
“We support the continued engagement of the United States with ASEAN. This engagement is very positive for both ASEAN and the U.S.,” President Prabowo said in his remarks to the media after attending the ASEAN–U.S. Summit.
President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the U.S. role in mediating tensions between Thailand and Cambodia, noting that the outcomes of the 13th ASEAN–U.S. Summit were highly productive.
“We are very pleased that the U.S. has helped mediate the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. The results of this summit are indeed positive,” he concluded. (AT Network)
