ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah is set to showcase its humanitarian initiatives and global network during the side events of the 9th World Peace Forum (WPF), which will take place at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, from November 9–11, 2025.
The Steering Committee (SC) of WPF, Syafiq A. Mughni, stated that the forum will highlight Muhammadiyah’s long-standing humanitarian work across conflict zones, particularly in Palestine.
“Muhammadiyah has long been active in international humanitarian missions, including support for Palestine. These experiences are valuable to share with the global community,” Syafiq said during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
He explained that Muhammadiyah will also present the achievements of its Disaster Management Center (MDMC), which has been officially certified as an International Emergency Medical Team (I-EMT) by the Bureau for Humanitarian Unit (BHU).
This certification allows Muhammadiyah’s medical teams to be deployed internationally without requiring permission from other global agencies such as the WHO.
“It means Muhammadiyah is globally recognized in disaster response,” he emphasized.
In addition, the side events will discuss strengthening Muhammadiyah’s global network through its Special Branches of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) in more than 30 countries.
“These organizations are legally independent in their respective countries but share the same worldview and missionary spirit. This is Muhammadiyah’s model of a global moral network,” explained Syafiq.
He emphasized that Muhammadiyah’s global engagement reflects Indonesia’s moderate Islam contribution to building a peaceful and progressive global civilization.
“Muhammadiyah is not only about theology—it’s about real humanitarian action. This is the embodiment of Islam Berkemajuan, an Islam that serves universal humanity,” Syafiq added.
The 9th World Peace Forum, themed “Considering Wasatiyyat Islam and Chinese Civilization for Global Collaboration,” is organized by the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC) in partnership with the Cheng Ho Multi Culture Education Trust.
The event will gather over 300 interfaith leaders, academics, and world figures from 24 countries, including Thailand’s Minister of Culture Sabida Taisek, Russian Federation representative Elmira Sadikova, former President of Kosovo Madame Atifete Jahjaga, Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Indonesia’s Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdil Mu’ti, and representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The forum will also feature the Nobel Knowledge Panel, presenting two Nobel Peace Prize laureates — Ramos-Horta and Hindankyu of Japan — who are scheduled to join virtually.
With its inclusive theme and international participation, the 9th WPF aims to serve as a strategic dialogue platform to strengthen cross-civilizational cooperation and promote a just and sustainable global peace. (AT Network)
