ASIATODAY.ID, MAKASSAR — Indonesia has strengthened its presence in the global agricultural market after South Sulawesi-based micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) PT Onstar Pop Farm (OSP Farm) exported 10.2 tons of candlenut to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The export shipment was officially released at Pelindo Makassar Container Terminal (TPK) 1 on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in a ceremony led by South Sulawesi Deputy Governor Fatmawati Rusdi, accompanied by Head of Bank Indonesia’s South Sulawesi Representative Office Rizki Ernadi Wipanda and other stakeholders.

The second shipment consisted of 10.2 tons of whole candlenut valued at US$33,660, transported using a 20-foot container. The export is part of a two-year contract commitment totaling 80 tons secured by OSP Farm through the Anging Mammiri Business Fair (AMBF) 2025.

With this shipment, OSP Farm’s total export realization has reached 20.2 tons, marking a major milestone for an MSME from Luwu Regency that has successfully entered the international market.

Fatmawati Rusdi said the achievement proves that local Indonesian businesses can compete globally when supported by continuous assistance and strong collaboration between government institutions, financial sectors, businesses, and logistics partners.

“On behalf of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, we appreciate Bank Indonesia for becoming a catalyst in strengthening cooperation between entrepreneurs, banking institutions, government, and logistics partners. This collaboration will strengthen regional economic growth and improve community welfare,” Fatmawati said.

She described OSP Farm’s journey as a “from zero to hero” story, showing how a small-scale business can transform into an export-oriented company through commitment, improved quality, and proper mentoring.

However, Fatmawati noted that logistics costs remain one of the key challenges for exporters. The provincial government, she said, will continue supporting MSMEs in improving distribution efficiency, expanding business networks, and accessing international markets.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the economy. As long as businesses continue to innovate, maintain quality, and adapt to market needs, opportunities in global markets will remain open,” she added.

Bank Indonesia Helps MSME Enter Global Supply Chain

Bank Indonesia South Sulawesi Representative Rizki Ernadi Wipanda said OSP Farm’s success was achieved through comprehensive support under the REWAKO Program (Resilient, World Class, Agile, and Knowledgeable).

The program provides assistance ranging from business legality improvement, production capacity development, market research, business matching, to participation in international trade exhibitions such as Trade Expo Indonesia and Anging Mammiri Business Fair.

“Export is not an instant process. MSMEs need continuous assistance to become truly prepared for global markets. The success of OSP Farm proves that consistent mentoring can turn opportunities into real export transactions,” Rizki said.

He revealed that AMBF 2025 generated export commitments worth Rp228 billion from 30 international buyers across 17 countries. By July 2026, realized exports from those commitments had reached around IDR122.7 billion.

Supporting Farmers and Local Economic Growth

OSP Farm Director Muhammad Irfandi Arwin said the company’s success was the result of collaboration and long-term support from the Luwu Regency Government, South Sulawesi Provincial Government, and Bank Indonesia.

He said the company initially operated with limited production capacity and faced challenges in understanding export procedures and business requirements.

“Initially, we only produced on a small scale. Through guidance and support from various parties, we have proven that MSMEs can also export products overseas. We hope this becomes an inspiration for other MSMEs,” Irfandi said.

The export expansion has also benefited local farmers in Luwu, as OSP Farm sources its candlenut raw materials from local communities.

The company’s achievement highlights Indonesia’s broader strategy to increase the value of local commodities, strengthen MSME competitiveness, and connect regional producers with global markets.

South Sulawesi hopes the success of OSP Farm will encourage more local businesses to improve product quality, expand exports, and participate in Indonesia’s growing global trade ecosystem. (AT Network)
