ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia is accelerating efforts to strengthen its financial ecosystem as Danantara Asset Management (DAM) consolidates four state-owned investment management companies with a combined Assets Under Management (AUM) exceeding IDR170 trillion (approximately US$10.4 billion), creating one of the country’s largest investment platforms.
The consolidation marks a significant milestone for Danantara Indonesia, Indonesia’s strategic investment institution mandated to optimize government investments and state-owned enterprise assets to support long-term economic growth and national competitiveness.
The move brings together PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi (MMI), PT BRI Manajemen Investasi (BRI MI), PT BNI Asset Management (BNI AM), and PT PNM Investment Management (PNM IM) under the Danantara ecosystem.
The four companies collectively manage more than IDR170 trillion in assets as of June 2026, combining extensive investment experience, distribution networks, and investor bases from major Indonesian financial institutions.
The consolidation follows the signing of a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) on July 22, 2026, marking the transfer of control of the four asset management companies to DAM.
Indonesia’s Move to Create a Stronger Investment Platform
Danantara said the consolidation is not merely a corporate transaction, but a strategic step to build a more competitive national investment management industry.
By integrating the capabilities of four major asset managers, the new platform aims to expand investment access, strengthen governance standards, develop innovative financial products, and enhance Indonesia’s position in the regional investment landscape.
“This is a major step to strengthen Indonesia’s investment management industry. These four companies have strong experience, networks, and capabilities, collectively managing more than Rp170 trillion in assets. Danantara will ensure these strengths are directed through stronger strategies and governance to create greater value for the Indonesian economy,” said Danantara Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria.
Within the next month, the four asset management companies are expected to complete the merger process into a single integrated institution as part of Danantara’s broader streamlining strategy.
Building Scale for Retail and Institutional Investors
The newly consolidated investment platform will serve both retail and institutional investors by combining broader distribution channels, stronger investment capabilities, and a wider range of financial solutions.
Indonesia’s investment market has continued to expand, with the number of registered investors through the Single Investor Identification (SID) system surpassing 20 million, reflecting growing public participation in capital markets.
For retail investors, the platform is expected to expand access to investment products through the extensive networks of Indonesia’s state-owned banks.
For institutional investors, the consolidation will strengthen portfolio management capabilities and provide more comprehensive investment solutions.
Four Institutions, One Strategic Vision
Each company contributes unique strengths to the new investment ecosystem.
BRI Manajemen Investasi contributes a strong retail investor base, with total AUM of IDR52.61 trillion as of June 2026, supporting broader financial inclusion and market expansion.
BNI Asset Management adds diversified investment capabilities across retail and institutional segments, with AUM of IDR29.59 trillion as of June 2026.
PNM Investment Management, with AUM of IDR10.31 trillion, brings experience in developing inclusive investment solutions and expanding access to financial services.
Meanwhile, Mandiri Manajemen Investasi contributes more than two decades of experience in managing investment portfolios and serving institutional and retail markets.
Together, these capabilities are expected to create an investment institution with greater scale, stronger governance, and improved competitiveness in Southeast Asia’s growing financial market.
Danantara’s Bigger Economic Mission
The consolidation reflects Danantara Indonesia’s broader mission to unlock the value of strategic national assets and strengthen Indonesia’s economic foundation.
Established as the Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), the institution is designed to manage strategic investments through professional, transparent, and accountable governance.
Through the development of a large-scale investment management platform, Danantara aims to deepen Indonesia’s capital market, attract greater investment flows, and build financial institutions capable of competing beyond domestic borders.
With a portfolio exceeding US$10 billion, Danantara’s latest move signals Indonesia’s ambition to create a stronger financial architecture and establish a national investment champion with regional significance.
As Southeast Asia continues to emerge as a major destination for global capital, Indonesia’s creation of a large-scale investment platform represents a strategic effort to position its financial sector as a stronger force in the regional economy. (AT Network)
