ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said more than 800,000 Palestinians are suffering from hunger in the Gaza Strip.
Israel continues its occupation of the Gaza Strip with ongoing war, accompanied by hunger and thirst experienced by more than 2 million Palestinians.
“More than 800 thousand Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are now living in starving conditions but the occupiers are preventing the delivery of aid, food, fuel, gas and supplies necessary for normal life,” he said, as reported by TASS, Thursday, January 18 2024.
He said that refugees in the Gaza Strip live without everything they need to live a normal life, including food, medicine and shelter.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) also stated that it had canceled the first trip to Al-Awda hospital due to security concerns.
“WHO canceled plans for a mission to Al-Awda hospital and central drug stores in northern Gaza for the fourth time since December 26, 2023, because we did not receive deconfliction and security guarantees,” the organization said.
The mission plans to move urgently needed medical supplies to sustain operations at 5 hospitals in the north, including Al-Awda.
As is known, tensions have heated up again in the Middle East between Hamas and Israel, since the conflict broke out on October 7 2023.
In response, Israel has declared war readiness, announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, and began launching airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and several areas in Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank.
A 7-day ceasefire starting on November 24, 2023, has been implemented in the Gaza Strip after an agreement was reached between Israel, the United States and Qatar.
Then, after 7 days of ceasefire, the war restarted with Israel launching successive attacks by air on the Gaza Strip. (ATN)
