ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Ambon Music Office (AMO) is ready to hold the ASEAN Music Cities Forum on October 30 2024.
This activity, which received full support from the Maluku Provincial Tourism Office, was held to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Ambon City of Music.
AMO Director, Roni Loppies, explained that this activity carried the theme “Music and Nature”.
According to him, the connection between music and nature is interesting to discuss in the context of UNESCO world music cities in the ASEAN region using a list of solutions from SDGs 2030 (goals 11, 13 and 15) and Mondiacult 2022 (culture and dimensions of climate change).
“Conservation of nature and the environment is an important part of building local cultural resilience which is supported by cultural communities who live and reside in the city,” explained Loppies, in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 27 2024.
It is said that attention to the growth of cities in the world is not only focused on humans but also on nature and the environment which provides energy for the development of sustainable cities.
He said the sustainability of the music ecosystem is vitally influenced by the availability of natural elements, both biotic and abiotic.
“Musical imagination can be expressed from natural diversity which is greatly influenced by the landscape of small islands such as Ambon City of Music,” he explained.
According to him, music cities in the ASEAN region have very high natural wealth, especially in terms of biodiversity.
This is important because the ASEAN Music Cities Forum 2024 also presents the City of Craft and Folk Arts in South Korea, namely the city of Jinju, which has collaborated with Ambon City of Music and various other creative cities in the world as well as the Management Director of DASTA, Suphanburi Thailand.
“The ASEAN music cities that will attend this forum are from Ipoh (Malaysia), Suphanburi (Thailand), Da Lat (Vietnam) and will also collaborate with Jinju (South Korea),” he said.
He added, this forum will be an important historical milestone that builds networks and influences the world to continue discussing music as a cultural and natural wealth created by GOD in an effort to build sustainable cities and communities. (AT Network)
