Eramet and BASF Cancel Investment in Joint Nickel and Cobalt Refining Plant in IWIP

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Eramet announces its decision and that of BASF not to invest in a joint nickel and cobalt refining plant1 in Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP).

Eramet will continue to evaluate potential investments in the nickel battery value chain for electric vehicles in Indonesia and will keep the market informed in due course.

In 2020, Eramet and BASF signed an agreement to assess the potential for joint development and construction of a nickel and cobalt refining plant in Weda Bay. After an in-depth evaluation, including the project execution strategy, the two partners decided against this investment.
