ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — ExxonMobil Indonesia has highlighted that accelerating project permits is crucial for increasing the country’s oil and gas production.

The statement was made by Wade Floyd, President of ExxonMobil Indonesia, during the 2026 Early-Year CEO Forum hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Floyd expressed appreciation for government support, which enabled ExxonMobil to reach a production level of 15,000 barrels per day.

However, he stressed that faster permitting is essential for the company to further increase output.

“We hope to continue collaborating with the Government to ensure permits can be processed more quickly. This will allow us to accelerate production growth as well,” said Wade Floyd.

Bahlil Emphasizes Government–KKKS Coordination

Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stressed the importance of two-way communication between the government as regulator and KKKS contractors as field operators to ensure national lifting targets are met.

He confirmed that ESDM and SKK Migas will continue supporting KKKS by streamlining bureaucracy, simplifying regulations, and expediting inter-agency permitting.

“KKKS operate on the frontlines, while the Government is the regulator. We need to align our efforts so that the rhythm is coordinated and lifting targets can be achieved,” Bahlil said.

IPA Calls for Regulatory Consistency

Kathy Wu, President of the Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA), highlighted the importance of regulatory certainty for operational projects. Consistent rules allow companies to focus on execution and support government energy targets.

“Stable regulations are essential to protect project operations. With certainty in rules, operators can focus on implementation and support the Government’s energy objectives,” Wu said.

Collaboration Remains Key for 2026 Targets

Closing the forum, Bahlil underlined that continued collaboration between the government and KKKS contractors is vital to sustain the growth in national oil and gas lifting, particularly in achieving the 2026 targets.

“Thank you for all your input. I ask that we continue collaborating to increase lifting and accomplish our major energy sector goals for 2026,” Bahlil concluded. (AT Network)
