ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has carried out a nationwide enforcement operation, targeting strategic industrial zones including Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) and Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP).
The operation resulted in the detention of 220 foreign nationals suspected of violating Indonesian immigration regulations, with the largest group consisting of Chinese nationals.
Of the total detained, 114 were citizens of the People’s Republic of China, followed by nationals of Nigeria, India, South Korea, and Pakistan.
Authorities said the violations primarily involved misuse of stay permits, overstaying, and other immigration-related offenses.
“This operation demonstrates our firm commitment to ensuring that all foreign nationals operating in Indonesia comply with immigration laws,” said Yuldi Yusman, Acting Director General of Immigration on December 16, 2025.
IMIP: Thousands of Foreign Workers Screened
At IMIP, immigration officers conducted checks on 14,128 foreign nationals, focusing on controls at Jetty Fatufia Port and IMIP’s private airport. Inspections were carried out under joint standard operating procedures involving Immigration, Quarantine, and Customs authorities.
Shipping records show heavy foreign crew traffic in recent months. As a follow-up, Immigration has summoned tenants, contractors, and foreign nationals found in violation for further examination at Immigration headquarters in Jakarta.
IWIP: Large-Scale Oversight Continues
At IWIP, authorities screened 26,650 foreign nationals, with inspections conducted at Weda Bay Port and the park’s private airport. Both facilities operate under integrated SOPs with Quarantine and Customs.
Between November and December, 32 vessels carrying 588 foreign crew members passed through Weda Bay Port. Immigration has since summoned tenants, contractors, and foreign nationals suspected of violations for further investigation.
Enforcement to Continue
Beyond IWIP and IMIP, the operation also extended to other mining-related activities, including offshore dredging operations in Bangka Belitung, where foreign nationals were found working as crew members and technical operators.
Yuldi emphasized that enforcement actions will continue as part of Indonesia’s efforts to protect national sovereignty and maintain public order.
“There will be zero tolerance for immigration violations. Law enforcement measures will proceed in accordance with prevailing regulations,” he said. (AT Network)
