“Indonesia’s relationship with China is not just friendship, but also brotherhood, and it is my duty to continue and develop that bond,” said Sjafrie.
A number of points were discussed in this bilateral meeting, including that the two countries emphasized their strong commitment to strengthening cooperation in the defense sector through various strategic agreements that continue to be developed. In addition, a constructive dialogue approach was agreed as an optimal step to maintain stability and realize shared prosperity in the region.
In this case, Indonesia’s position remains consistent, namely resolving problems through dialogue, not by armed force. Cooperation between the militaries of the two countries will be expanded comprehensively, not only through technology transfer, but also by strengthening direct relations between military personnel through soldier to soldier contact.
“Indonesia considers it necessary to continue to gain knowledge related to technology and military science in order to increase our military capabilities,” explained Sjafri.
This approach is expected to be able to strengthen defense cooperation at various levels while building deeper trust between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Chinese Minister of Defense, Admiral Dong Jun also expressed his views at this meeting.
“Considering the dynamics of the geopolitical and geostrategic situation that continues to develop at this time, it is appropriate for us to work together to maintain conditions that are conducive to realizing common good and progress,” he said.
In this context, defense cooperation between Indonesia and China needs to be increased to a more advanced level by prioritizing the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit for both countries. Therefore, Chinese Minister of Defense, Admiral Dong Jun emphasized the importance of continuing to prioritize a dialogue and consultation approach to prevent problems from emerging in the region.
