ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is set to significantly boost its defense capabilities with the arrival of two major strategic assets: Rafale fighter jets and the Airbus A400M military transport aircraft.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that deliveries will begin in late 2025 and continue into early 2026.
“By early next year, the first Rafales are expected to arrive, while the Airbus A400M should be delivered by the end of 2025,” said Brigadier General TNI Frega Wenas Inkiriwang, Head of Defense Information Bureau, during a press briefing at the Defense Ministry in Jakarta, Thursday, September 18, 2025.
According to Frega, the procurement of advanced defense equipment is not merely about expanding military power but also part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to safeguard regional peace and stability.
“This is to ensure that our efforts to protect sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security can continue,” he emphasized.
He added that Indonesia has no intention of becoming entangled in conflicts like those affecting several other nations. Instead, a strong defense posture is seen as the foundation of national development.
National Safety Belt Concept
The Ministry of Defense also highlighted that strengthening Indonesia’s defense sector involves close collaboration with other government institutions under the National Safety Belt concept. This initiative aims not only to secure political and security stability but also to support prosperity, welfare, and public safety.
“We want Indonesia to remain safe, peaceful, and stable. No internal or external actors should be allowed to disrupt that,” Frega stated.
