ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that an Indonesian citizen was killed in riots in Bangladesh on Monday, August 5 2024.
In a written statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the victim, identified as DU, arrived in Bangladesh on August 1 for a business visit.
“DU died due to inhaling too much smoke as the hotel where he was staying in Jashore caught fire amidst the riots,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted the victim’s family in Indonesia to express condolences and facilitate the repatriation of the body.
Indonesian citizens in Bangladesh are advised to increase vigilance and reduce non-essential activities outside their homes, as well as avoid crowds and demonstration sites.
They are also advised to continue to maintain communication and always follow the contingency measures set by the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka.
Indonesian citizens planning to visit Bangladesh are advised to postpone their trip until the security situation and conditions improve. (AT Network)
