ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian male rock climbing athlete Rahmad Adi Mulyono succeeded in emerging as champion in the speed event at the 2023 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Asian Qualifier Rock Climbing Championship at Lot 11 Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday (12 /11/2023) evening.

This achievement also led Rahmad to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Rahmad was the fastest in the men’s speed event by recording a time of 5.35 seconds in the final.

This time record was enough to beat his compatriot, Kiromal Katibin. Because, Katibin fell when trying to match Rahmad’s speed in the final.

Rahmad was also very happy with his success in winning tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 23 year old athlete said that this brilliant achievement was the result of the hard work of the entire Indonesian rock climbing team.

“I feel very happy to be able to qualify for Paris. “Moreover, we are the hosts and this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire Indonesian Team,” said Rahmad.

The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, is very proud and happy with this achievement.

“Of course I am very happy and proud because we are hosting the 2023 IFSC Asian Qualified and this is really on target by adding one ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Previously, female rock climbing athlete Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi had won a ticket to appear at the Olympics Paris 2024,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito.

“I received information that there will be two more qualifiers in Shanghai and Budapest. We will maximize this to add tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics,” he added.

Furthermore, Menpora Dito said that FPTI had prepared a short-medium and long-term road map. The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) will always support.

“So we prepare optimally mentally and physically for the athletes who will compete later,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Chair of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) Yenny Wahid said that these results were in line with the target, even the Lead and Boulder categories which were not targeted turned out to be in the final.

“We are very happy, this means we have capital for the next four years. And of course by collaborating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports we will continue to develop and ensure that in the future the sport of rock climbing will achieve achievements in all categories,” he said.

“And on this occasion, we would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports which has been a partner of FPTI. The Ministry of Youth and Sports always supports FPTI’s activities. And hopefully with investments like this we can get a gold medal at the next Olympics,” he explained. (AT Network)
