ASIATODAY.ID, TANGERANG – The escalating military conflict involving the United States (US) and Israel against Iran has now disrupted air travel in Southeast Asia.

Several Middle East-bound flights from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have been canceled following airspace closures across parts of the region.

Authorities confirmed that while specific Middle Eastern routes are affected, overall airport operations remain stable.

Aziz Fahmi Harahap, Acting Assistant Deputy for Communication and Legal Affairs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, stated that domestic and other international flights continue to operate normally.

“Overall flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport remain safe and smooth. However, several Middle East routes have been canceled due to airspace closures,” he said on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Airlines and Flights Affected

The following outbound flights have been canceled:

Etihad Airways EY472 to Abu Dhabi
Qatar Airways QR954 to Doha
Qatar Airways QR957 to Doha
Emirates EK357 to Dubai
Etihad Airways EY475 to Abu Dhabi
Garuda Indonesia GA900 to Doha
Etihad Airways EY473 to Abu Dhabi

Meanwhile, the following inbound flights were also canceled:

Etihad Airways EY472 (Abu Dhabi–Jakarta)
Qatar Airways QR954 (Doha–Jakarta)

Passenger Handling and Official Advisory

Airport management confirmed that affected passengers are being assisted according to standard procedures.

This includes immigration document cancellation where necessary, as well as coordination with airlines for rebooking, refunds, or accommodation arrangements.

Passengers traveling to Middle Eastern destinations are strongly advised to monitor official airline announcements for the latest flight status updates before heading to the airport.

Broader Impact of Middle East Escalation

The intensifying conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has triggered widespread airspace restrictions across parts of the Middle East. Aviation authorities have prioritized passenger safety by implementing precautionary airspace closures.

If tensions continue to escalate, further flight disruptions across regional hubs in Asia cannot be ruled out.

The situation remains fluid, and travelers are urged to stay informed and remain cautious. (AT Network)
