ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Prof. Sudarnoto, called for a boycott of Israeli dates because the money from their sales is used to kill Palestinians.
Prof. Sudarnoto said that the products being boycotted varied from food, drinks, and others.
MUI, said Prof Sudarnoto, has issued Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law on Support for the Palestinian Struggle.
“Reminding us again that we Muslims and Indonesian people who care about humanity are boycotting Israeli products and state companies affiliated with Israel,” said Prof Sudarnoto, quoted on Tuesday, March 12 2024.
Prof. Sudarnoto emphasized that boycotting is also an act of pressure that can be exerted by society on Israel, the impact of which is extraordinary. This has also been proven through the survey team.
“Why boycott? Because the sales proceeds will definitely benefit Israel. Because with a boycott, we can weaken Israel’s economy so that it doesn’t attack Palestine again,” said Prof. Sudarnoto.
Prof. Sudarnoto emphasized that the MUI has never issued a list of products that must be boycotted because they support Israel. MUI, he said, only emphasizes basic principles.
Quoted from various sources, the following is a list of 21 brands of date products produced by the Israeli industry:
