ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government will consistently continue to encourage the acceleration of digital transformation.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria stated that enthusiasm for realizing digitalization and digital transformation would not diminish due to the cyber attack incident on the National Data Center.
“We must not go backwards, we must keep moving forward! Digitalization continues and Indonesia must be able to be at the front, this must not break our enthusiasm for digital transformation,” stressed Nezar, quoted Monday, July 1 2024.
Nezar said that digital transformation can increase efficiency, simplify business processes and make it easier for people to access government services. According to him, cyber attack incidents provide valuable lessons for strengthening cyber security in the digital transformation process.
“I think we have learned quite an important lesson here, and a very critical one,” he stressed.
Digital transformation is not only the responsibility of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology but must be carried out by all elements of the nation.
“Digital transformation is national transformation,” he said.
Nezar ensured that in designing digital transformation in Indonesia, the Ministry of Communication and Information had also paid attention to cyber security aspects.
“This awareness already exists in Communications and Information Technology when designing digital transformation, including security, cyber security,” he explained.
Incidents of cyber attacks on digital infrastructure are an important lesson that there are gaps in digital security. He emphasized that he would always encourage users to increase their awareness of cyber attacks.
“There is no safe place, there must be such awareness, for all digital infrastructure,” he said.
Nezar stated that on behalf of the Ministry of Communication and Information he apologized to the public who experienced problems due to disruption of public services.
“This attack has occurred, which means it shows weakness. Communication and Informatics as the institution that handles this problem has expressed an apology, especially to the public whose services were disrupted,” he said.
President Joko Widodo has given directions to restore public services as soon as possible.
“The President’s order is immediate, so our priority is public services, so that the public is not disturbed and government functions using digital platforms are disrupted,” he said. (AT Network)
