ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) of the Republic of Indonesia presented the results of its findings for 2023. PPATK’s findings unmasked various modes of corruption and suspicious transactions in the National Strategic Project (PSN).
One of the financial intelligence agency’s most interesting findings is the alleged flow of PSN funds into the pockets of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and politicians.
Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana admitted that 36.81% of the total PSN funds had entered the subcontractor’s account.
PPATK identified that the financial transactions were indeed related to development operational activities. However, 36.67% of fund transactions on PSN were allegedly used not for project development but for personal interests.
“The results of an in-depth examination of transactions that were not related to project development were identified as flowing to parties with ASN profiles, politicians and the perpetrators purchasing assets and investments,” explained Ivan at the 2023 Final Reflection Press Conference and Work Projections and Steps PPATK Strategic 2024 at the PPATK Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 10 2024.
PPATK did not provide further details regarding what PSN is meant. The country’s financial intelligence agency is also reluctant to reveal the nominal value of the funds circulating in the alleged corruption.
However, Acting Deputy for Analysis and Inspection of PPATK Danang Tri Hartono on the same occasion indicated that the cases in question were already being handled by law enforcement.
“Regarding PSN, yes, you can see recent cases related to PSN, whatever projects. They have been investigated by investigators, and have been exposed by the mass media, so you can draw your own conclusions,” he said.
Meanwhile, PPATK has submitted 1,178 Analysis Results Reports related to 1,847 Suspicious Financial Transaction Reports throughout January-November 2023.
Transactions Related to Political Parties
Increase The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) also revealed that transactions occurring in the accounts of political party administrators and members increased rapidly throughout 2022-2023.
Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavanda initially explained that there were 6 million names of members or administrators of political parties recorded in Indonesia.
Based on the results of matching this data with PPATK data, it was found that 449,607 reports were received regarding the names of members and administrators from 24 political parties.
PPATK noted that the total nominal transactions of the 24 political parties reached IDR 80 trillion for the period 2022-2023. According to him, each political party experienced an increase of 400% to 2,400% ahead of the 2024 elections.
“So all transactions have indeed increased. For example, initially the transactions were only Rp. 1 billion, but suddenly they rose to Rp. 10 billion. From Rp. 100 million, suddenly Rp. 2 billion in the accounts that I mentioned earlier,” he said.
In general, PPATK recorded that there were 704 million new accounts opened in 2022 to the third quarter of 2023 or September 2023. This number can be seen from the Customer Identification Form (CIF). Of the 704 million new accounts, 53 million accounts were opened by corporations and 650 million by individuals.
However, explained Ivan, this data is general data that does not indicate any suspicious transactions or tendencies towards criminal activity. (AT Network)
