Sumedang Ready to Export Gedong Gincu Mangoes to Japan

ASIATODAY.ID, BANDUNG – Gedong gincu mangoes from Sumedang, West Java are ready to be exported to Japan on August 17 2024.

“We have signed a joint commitment. On August 17 2024, exports of Sumedang gedong gincu mangoes to Japan are ready to be launched,” said Sumedang Regent Herman Suryatman as quoted on Friday, March 29 2024.

Main Director of Injabar Unpad Keri Lestari responded positively to this export plan.

He said that the research that had been carried out by the Injabar Unpad team together with teams from multi-disciplinary sciences starting from the faculties of agricultural sciences, economics, law, pharmacy and agriculture had made a strong contribution so that the research results were cited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). Japan granted permission.

“There is no reason to worry about the presence of the Bactrocela occipitalis pest in Indonesia, especially in West Java. We are grateful that the first export of mangoes in Indonesia will start from West Java based on the results of research we conducted together with the Quarantine Center,” he said.

Chair of the Standard Infrastructure and Facilities Team for the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, Maman Suparman, said that the existence of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency is to ensure that Gedong mangoes in West Java, especially from Sumedang, can be accepted in Japan according to their requirements.

“We ensure that the requirements given by Japan will be met by all of us and quarantine is a guarantee of certification,” he said. (ATN)
