UAE and Chinese Companies Win Auction for 3 Oil and Gas Blocks in Indonesia

ASIATODAY.ID, BALI – The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced the Winners of the 2024 Phase I Oil and Gas Working Area Direct Bidding Auction for the Central Andaman WK, Amanah WK, and Melati WK in South Kuta, Bali on Tuesday , September 3, 2024.

With investment value, in the form of a definite commitment of US$19,882,293 and a signature bonus of US$800,000.

“What’s interesting about this announcement is that there are Chinese oil and gas companies participating in this auction. For this reason, we also express our gratitude for the support of the Chinese Government,” said Acting Director General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Dadan Kusdiana when announcing the winners on the sidelines of the 7th Indonesia-China Energy Forum (ICEF).

The announcement of the Working Area Auction Winner was marked by the Submission of a Letter of Determination of the Bidder Winner by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Bahlil Lahadalia to the Business Entity/Permanent Establishment of the Bidder.

The following are the winners of the direct bidding auction for 3 Phase 1 Oil and Gas Working Areas in 2024:

First, Working Area Central Andaman (Northern Offshore Sumatra), the winner is the Consortium of Premier Oil South Andaman Limited and Mubadala Energy Holdings Limited (an oil and gas company from the United Arab Emirates), with a signature bonus of US$300,000 and Total Firm Commitment of US$4,032,293.

Second, Working Area Amanah (Onshore South Sumatra), the winner is the Consortium of PT Medco Energi Linggau, PT Sele Raya and KUFPEC Regional Ventures (Indonesia) Limited, with a signature bonus of US$ 300,000 and Total Definite Commitment of US$ 3,150,000.

Third, Working Area Melati (Onshore-OffShore Southeast Sulawesi-Central Sulawesi), the winner is the Consortium of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Sinopec International Energy Investment Holdings Limited and KUFPEC Regional Ventures (Indonesia) Limited, with a signature bonus of US$ 200,000 and a Total Definite Commitment of US $12,700,000.

“We congratulate the winners,” concluded Dadan.

In the 2024 Phase I Oil and Gas Working Area Bidding, there are 5 (five) Working Areas that have been offered, namely Amanah Working Area, Central Andaman Working Area, Melati Working Area, Panai Working Area, and Pesut Mahakam Working Area.

Specifically, the Panai Working Area and Pesut Mahakam Working Area Auctions are still ongoing, and are offered with a Regular Auction mechanism and will end on September 11 2024.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, will continue to strive to invite investors to carry out oil and gas exploration activities in order to optimize oil and gas potential, through the Oil and Gas CA Offering.

In the 2024 Phase II Oil and Gas Working Area Bidding Plan, there are tentatively 5 Working Areas that are considered potential and are candidates to be offered, namely Air Komering Working Area, Binaiya Working Area, Gaea Working Area, Kojo Working Area, and Serpang Working Area. (AT Network)
