ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia Abdullah Salem Obaid Al Dhaderi appreciated the tolerance between religious communities in Indonesia.
Abdullah Salem said this to welcome the momentum of the International Day of Human Fraternity which is celebrated every February 4.
According to Abdullah Salem, Indonesia and the UAE share the same spirit of tolerance and diversity of religions, cultures, races and groups.
“We understand that in Indonesia there is coexistence between religious communities. What we are proud of is that the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia have similarities in terms of tolerance and diversity of religion, culture and race,” said Abdulah at a Media Briefing at the United Arab Emirates Embassy, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 30 2024.
Even though Islam is the majority religion in Indonesia, adherents of other different religions can still live side by side.
“We can see many similarities between what is happening in terms of tolerance, coexistence, and many of the activities carried out and witnessed in the UAE, we see it also in Indonesia,” he said.
According to him, celebrating International Day of Human Fraternity is a step to increase harmony between humans in the world.

On 21 December 2020, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution co-sponsored by the United Arab Emirates and Egypt declaring 4 February as International Day of Human Fraternity. (ATN)
