ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Government of Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan (AEC-SP) 2026–2030, a key agenda designed to strengthen ASEAN’s economic pillar beyond 2025.
This commitment was highlighted at the National Forum on Synergy for ASEAN Economic Cooperation Beyond 2025, co-hosted by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the AA Maramis Building, Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Deputy Minister for Coordination of Economic Cooperation and Investment at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Edi Prio Pambudi, emphasized that Indonesia views the strategic plan as a tangible instrument to enhance regional competitiveness, expand private sector participation, and ensure that the benefits of economic integration are widely shared.
This aligns with ASEAN Vision 2045, which aims to position ASEAN as the world’s fourth-largest economic power.
The hybrid-format forum gathered around 200 participants, including representatives from ministries and government agencies, business associations, academia, and the public. Discussions were structured into two thematic panels:
Panel 1: “Unlocking Growth: ASEAN’s Seamless Market Advantage”
Focused on how ASEAN’s single market can drive national and regional growth through industrial downstreaming, digital transformation, and the utilization of ASEAN+1 free trade agreements and the RCEP as key growth engines.
Panel 2: “ASEAN: Where Global Futures Meet”
Addressed ASEAN’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties, geoeconomic rivalries, supply chain disruptions, and the need to foster an inclusive and sustainable business environment.
In his closing remarks, Bobby Chriss Siagian, Assistant Deputy for Regional Economic Cooperation, expressed hope for stronger joint commitment in advancing ASEAN economic synergy that is dynamic, sustainable, and inclusive.
The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs reaffirmed its dedication to broadening public outreach and deepening stakeholder understanding of ASEAN’s post-2025 economic integration agenda through the implementation of the strategic plan over the next five years. (AT Network)
