Building the Nation through Creativity

Under Angelique’s stewardship, DEKRAFMI now boasts 92 officials at the Central Executive Board (DPP), 27 Provincial Boards (DPD), and 50 District Boards (DPC) across Indonesia.

Operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf), all DEKRAFMI programs are designed to support the vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia—to enhance public welfare through the creative economy sector.

“Our primary motivation in establishing DEKRAFMI is to strengthen people’s economic foundations, reduce poverty, create new jobs, and act as an extension of the government at the local level,” Angelique said passionately on Monday, October 27, 2025.

From Culinary to Handicrafts: Empowering Creative MSMEs

Since its inauguration, DEKRAFMI under Angelique’s leadership has launched a series of concrete initiatives in key creative sectors, including:

Culinary: Coaching for local food MSMEs and organizing creative culinary festivals.

Fashion & Design: Exhibitions and collaborations with emerging designers.

Music & Handicrafts: Supporting local artists to reach digital and international markets.

Angelique emphasizes that her main focus is to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local economies—helping them become competitive and self-reliant amid global economic challenges.

Active in Organizations and MSME Empowerment

Beyond her role as DEKRAFMI Chairperson, Angelique is also deeply involved in several entrepreneurship and women empowerment organizations, including:

PPLIPI (Indonesian Women Across Professions Association)

Peran UMKM Indonesia (Indonesian MSME Role Organization)

Chairperson of PPLIPI Central Jakarta Branch, which focuses on helping local women entrepreneurs scale up their businesses.

“I believe Indonesian women’s strength lies in their creativity and resilience. When women are economically independent, their families and the nation grow stronger,” Angelique stated.

An Entrepreneur with a Love for Indonesian Heritage

Outside her organizational activities, Angelique is also a successful culinary entrepreneur. She owns Rumah Putih Restaurant and Mie Celor Yu’Yen, both located in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

For Angelique, these ventures are more than just businesses—they represent her love and pride for Indonesian cuisine.

“I’m originally from Palembang. Through food, I want to introduce the unique flavors of my hometown while creating jobs for the local community,” she said with a warm smile.

With her strong sense of nationalism and inclusive leadership, Angelique Verina has emerged as an inspirational figure for Indonesia’s young creative generation. Under her leadership, DEKRAFMI has evolved not only into a platform for aspiration but also into a tangible movement to realize a people-centered, competitive, and equitable economy.
