Strategic Collaboration Strengthens the Foundations of Village Cooperatives in Jambi City

Capacity-building training program for the management of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDKMP) in Jambi city. Special

ASIATODAY.ID, JAMBI — Efforts to strengthen the foundations of village-based cooperatives in Jambi City have taken an important step forward through a strategic collaboration between the Jambi City Office of Cooperatives and MSMEs and Kana Cooperatives.

This partnership was formalized through a capacity-building training program for the management of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDKMP), held at the Human Resources Development and Civil Service Agency (BKSDM) Hall on November 22, 2025.

The training aims to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of cooperative governance while empowering village cooperatives to play a greater role in supporting the region’s growing local economy.

A total of 68 KDKMP managers participated, reflecting strong commitment to strengthening cooperative structures and performance at the grassroots level.

The event was attended by the Head of the Jambi City Office of Manpower, Cooperatives, and MSMEs, Liana Andriani, representing Deputy Mayor Diza Hazra Aljosha.

Liana emphasized that improving managerial capacity is essential to building a solid foundation for cooperatives as they face increasingly complex economic dynamics.

As part of this strategic collaboration, Kana Cooperative presented its flagship initiative, Koperasi Manis, introduced by Ello Harfandy.

The program provides IDR2 million in monthly operational funding for each participating KDKMP through a consignment distribution model requiring no upfront payment.

With potential transactions reaching IDR200 million per cooperative per month, the initiative is expected to reinforce Indonesia’s village-level food distribution network, particularly for white sugar.

“This program is designed to stabilize cooperative cash flow and accelerate the distribution of essential goods at the village and subdistrict levels,” Ello explained.

Liana praised the initiative, noting that Koperasi Manis represents a significant breakthrough in enhancing food distribution systems and improving product management efficiency among village cooperatives.

“This collaboration opens new opportunities for cooperatives to deliver more direct benefits to the community,” she said.

She also announced that Kana Cooperative will take part in the Jambi City Government’s upcoming flagship program, Sembako Bahagia, which will involve 17,000 civil servants starting in 2026.

The program aims to ensure more efficient and affordable access to essential food items while empowering local cooperatives as key distribution pillars.

Through this collaboration and the strengthened capacity of cooperative managers, the Jambi City Government hopes to build more resilient, adaptive, and professionally managed village cooperatives capable of delivering sustainable benefits to local communities and contributing to regional economic stability.
