ASIATODAY.ID, KUPANG – A total of 17 pilot whale marine mammals (Globicephala macrorhynchus) were found dead stranded on the coast of Liliweri, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

The condition of these whales is very worrying. Several parts of his body had wounds from being hit by rocks on the coast of Liliweri where he was stranded.

“17 whales have died, each about 10 to 15 meters apart,” said Saleh Goro from the East Nusa Tenggara Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Sunday, September 8 2024.

The popes were announced on Saturday, September 7, 2024 afternoon. The burial of the marine mammals was carried out on the coast involving the police, village government and local communities.

Goro said, based on information on Friday, September 6, there were approximately 50 stranded whales. However, the team found that 17 dead pilots had been stranded.

I suspect that the rest of the pilots who died were washed away by the current in the middle of the ocean at high tide.

He added that before the pilot was buried, samples were taken to be sent to a laboratory in Bali for research into the cause of the pilot’s death. (AT Network)
