ASIATODAY.ID, DENPASAR – The Bali Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that foreign tourist visits to Bali from January to October 2023 reached 4.3 million.

This figure has reached 80 percent of the conditions in the same period before the Covid-19 pandemic or in 2019, and the increase has even reached 194.33 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

“We can see the development of the number of foreign tourist visits from January to October 2023 before the 2019 pandemic was 5,224,882, then in 2020 and 2021 it fell, then in 2022 it started to increase by 1,491,073 visits, and in 2023 it has reached 4,388,698 visits,” said the Head of BPS Bali , Endang Retno Sri Subiyandani in an official statement, Monday 4 December 2023.

The figure of 4.3 million represents 46.24 percent of all foreign tourists who came to Indonesia from January to October 2023, where a total of 9.4 million visits were served.

Endang said that the recovery of tourist visits to Bali had not yet recovered 100 percent, but this small distance indicated that the recovery process was continuing to improve.

Based on visits per month, in October alone foreign tourist visits reached 461,441 visits, of which the majority of them or as many as 458,845 came by air transportation, and 2,596 used sea transportation.

BPS Bali realizes that this number decreased by 9.23 percent from September, but when talking about Bali tourism, there are seasons or times that become trends in tourist arrivals.

“In December it will always be busy, but now or in October it drops. “Generally, July and August have the highest number of visits, September-October goes down, then November-December goes up again, that’s the trend,” said Endang.

Specifically in October, there were five countries with the highest visits to the Island of the Gods, led by Australia with 119,273 visits, followed by India with 35,488 visits, China with 25,148 visits, France with 23,036 visits, and the UK with 22,446 visits.

“Tourist arrivals from China fell the most, reaching 23.22 percent, where in September there were still 32,755 visits,” he stressed. (AT Network)
