ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – In a dramatic and rain-drenched protest in front of the Presidential Palace near Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday, May 23, 2025, Ali Candra, the rightful owner of a 4.5-hectare land in Kunciran, Pinang, Tangerang City, staged a theatrical demonstration. The act symbolized his deep frustration over his long and fruitless quest for justice.
During the protest, Ali held a sign pleading for help from President Prabowo Subianto, urging the head of state to restore his land rights, which he has legally held since 1982. The land, currently valued at approximately IDR 17 million per square meter, is now under the control of elite property developer PT Alam Sutra Realty Tbk. and has been developed into a luxury residential cluster.
“I’ve sought justice from the police, the courts, the Tangerang and national land agencies, the Attorney General’s Office, and even Vice President Gibran. But all efforts have led nowhere,” Ali cried out.
At exactly 10:00 AM, Ali tearfully sang the national anthem Indonesia Raya, a gesture underscoring his enduring patriotism amid despair.
“But I haven’t given up. Justice must still exist. Now, I place all my hope in President Prabowo Subianto. Please help me, Sir,” Ali added, his voice breaking.
Ali also vowed to donate a portion of the compensation—if his land is returned or fairly purchased at today’s value—to support government programs.
“One of the initiatives I’ll support is the government’s excellent Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program,” he stated.
The Case Timeline
Ali initially purchased 120 plots totaling 4.5 hectares from PT Pembangunan Perisai Baja (PPB) on October 6, 1982, for IDR 450 million.
“I paid in full and have all the documentation,” Ali confirmed. “The plots are numbered 1 to 20 in Blocks D3 to D8. According to Alam Sutra, the area now lies within the Sutra Renata Arora Clusters 1 to 5 and partially in Aruna 3, as well as in areas that house the Total Building, Semith Building, Subaru Car Showroom, and the community hall.”
The issue began when PPB’s CEO and commissioner, Nely Rosa Yuliana Siringo and Siringo Duma, sold all 448 plots of PPB land—12 hectares in total, which had already been fully paid for by individual buyers—to Alam Sutra in 2005.
“Those 448 plots, including mine, had already been paid off and belonged to private buyers,” Ali said.
“Nely and Duma are the children of the original CEO and commissioner of PPB, the late Mrs. Adrian Siringo and Malkon Siringo-ringo, who both passed away 25 years ago,” he added.
Ali has exhausted every legal avenue to reclaim his land, but all efforts have failed—and he was even criminalized in the process.
“I was falsely accused of forgery, and despite no proof, I was immediately detained by the Tangerang City Police. That’s something I cannot accept to this day,” Ali said.
Undeterred and determined, Ali continues to fight for his rights. “I remember on May 5, 2023, I met with Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, Hadi Tjahyanto. He took a special interest in my case and instructed his team to act immediately,” Ali explained.
“The Minister said my case should be prioritized. But to this day, no action has been taken,” he lamented.
“Having exhausted every option, today I turn to President Prabowo. I am just an ant, Sir, fighting against an elephant. Please, Mr. President, help me. Give me back what is rightfully mine,” Ali concluded. (AT Network)
