ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Abu Dhabi has once again cemented its status as the safest city in the world, retaining the top global ranking for an extraordinary 10 consecutive years, according to the latest Numbeo Safety Index cited by Gulf News.
The capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked first out of more than 400 cities across 150 countries, earning the highest safety score worldwide—particularly for indicators measuring personal safety when walking alone during both daytime and nighttime.
“Abu Dhabi does not merely feel safe—it is engineered to be safe,” Gulf News noted, highlighting the city’s sustained dominance in global safety rankings.
Technology, AI, and Predictive Policing
Abu Dhabi’s long-standing success is widely attributed to the government’s aggressive adoption of advanced technologies, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and predictive data analytics within law enforcement operations.
Abu Dhabi Police Commander Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi emphasized that modern policing strategies allow authorities to stay one step ahead of crime, preventing incidents before they occur.
Beyond security, Abu Dhabi has also emerged as a world-class tourism hub, home to global landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, and the pristine beaches of Saadiyat Island.
CEOWORLD: Near-Perfect Safety Score
In a separate assessment, CEOWORLD Magazine also named Abu Dhabi the World’s Safest City for 2025, awarding it an impressive safety score of 97.73 out of 100. The city outperformed Taipei (97.5) and Doha (97.35).
The ranking evaluated 300 global cities, using metrics that include crime statistics, law enforcement effectiveness, and infrastructure security.
CEOWORLD credited Abu Dhabi’s performance to: strong law enforcement, AI-driven surveillance systems, community policing initiatives such as the Civil Defence Safety Patrol.
The magazine noted that sustained security has delivered tangible benefits to investment confidence, real estate markets, and overall quality of life, especially amid ongoing global uncertainty.
Jakarta Far Behind
In the same global index, Jakarta ranked 229th worldwide, recording a safety score of 64.63. The result places Indonesia’s capital far below the world’s safest cities, underscoring persistent challenges faced by major urban centers in developing economies.
By contrast, the global top 10 safest cities are dominated by the Middle East and Europe, including Abu Dhabi, Taipei, Doha, Ajman, Dubai, Muscat, The Hague, Bern, and Munich.
CEOWORLD concluded that political stability, strong governance, modernized security systems, and active community participation are the decisive factors behind the world’s safest cities. (ATN)
