AMRO Projects Indonesia’s Economy to Grow 5.2% in 2025, Equivalent to China

Jakarta City. Doc

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The ASEAN Plus Three Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) projects Indonesia’s economic growth to reach 5.2% in 2025.

Indonesia’s economic growth projection is the fourth best in the ASEAN Plus Three region.

Hoe Ee Khor, Chief Economist at AMRO, explained that Indonesia is behind Vietnam with a projected position of 6.2%, the Philippines at 6.1%, and Cambodia at 5.6%.

“Indonesia is one of the countries with a strong economy in the region. “We estimate that Indonesia will record economic growth of 5.2% next year,” explained Khor in a virtual press briefing on Thursday, October 3 2024.

According to Khor, with this projection, Indonesia will become the country with the fourth best growth prospects in the ASEAN Plus Three region.

Vietnam is still the country with the best projection in 2025 with 6.6%, followed by the Philippines (6.3%), and Cambodia (5.9%).

Khor said that Indonesia’s projected economic growth in 2025 is equivalent to China, which also recorded a growth rate of 5.1%. Apart from that, Indonesia’s growth rate is also better than the projection for the ASEAN Plus Three region of 4.4%.

He said that one of the factors supporting Indonesia’s economic growth was the rate of inflation which was starting to slow down.

Khor said that Indonesia’s domestic consumption levels in 2025 are likely to be stronger than in 2024. Apart from that, the Indonesian economy will also be supported by the policies of the new government led by President-Elect Prabowo Subianto.

Khor believes that the infrastructure budget, which is still quite large, will have a positive impact on the pace of the Indonesian economy throughout 2025.

“With these factors, in our opinion, there are positive risks for Indonesia’s economic growth prospects in 2025,” he explained. (AT Network)
