ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace in Palestine and across the Middle East. The shared commitment was highlighted during a bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, June 27, 2025.

In a joint press statement, President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Malaysia share a common stance on the importance of resolving global conflicts through peaceful means, particularly in the Middle East.

“We discussed developments in the Iran-Israel conflict and the current situation in Palestine. We welcome the ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Indonesia and Malaysia will continue to advocate for peaceful solutions for all parties,” President Prabowo said.

He reiterated Indonesia’s strong support for Palestinian independence through the two-state solution, calling it the only viable and just resolution to end the long-standing conflict.

“Indonesia and Malaysia agree that a global collective effort is essential to resolve conflicts peacefully, including the issue of Palestine,” he added.

Echoing President Prabowo’s remarks, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressed that bilateral cooperation and ASEAN solidarity are crucial in addressing today’s global challenges.

“Our strength lies in domestic resilience, bilateral cooperation, and ASEAN unity. These must be nurtured with a spirit of leadership and collaboration,” said PM Anwar.

The Malaysian leader also praised Indonesia’s regional leadership role, particularly in advocating peace in the Middle East and addressing the crisis in Myanmar.

He welcomed the recent ceasefire between Israel and Iran, describing it as a temporary relief, but emphasized the need for long-term solutions and an end to the violence in Gaza.

“We are somewhat relieved by the current ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, lasting peace must be pursued,” PM Anwar affirmed.

This meeting demonstrated the diplomatic alignment between Indonesia and Malaysia in supporting global peace efforts. Both nations reaffirmed their strategic roles as regional powers committed to promoting stability and justice—not only in Southeast Asia but also in the broader Middle East.

With a shared spirit of solidarity and brotherhood, Indonesia and Malaysia stand united in being a strong voice for peace, championing Palestinian independence and contributing to global diplomatic solutions. (AT Network)
