Azerbaijan Ready to Expand Cooperation with ASEAN on Climate Action

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to ASEAN, HE Jalal Mirzayev met the Secretary General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn at ASEAN Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 2 2024.

This meeting aims to strengthen relations between Azerbaijan and ASEAN and discuss important issues including climate action.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mirzayev handed over an invitation to Secretary General Dr Kao to participate in the Session of the 29th Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP29) which will be held in Azerbaijan in November 2024. This invitation shows the great commitment of Azerbaijan in dealing with issues global environment.

Apart from that, the two parties also exchanged views regarding efforts to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Azerbaijan.

In the discussion, they discussed the potential for collaboration in facing the increasingly urgent challenge of climate change.

Ambassador Mirzayev also stated that his term as Ambassador of Azerbaijan to ASEAN would soon end. On this occasion, Secretary General Dr Kao expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Mirzayev’s efforts in establishing closer relations between Azerbaijan and ASEAN member countries.

“The cooperation that has been built is very important to create synergy in facing global challenges, especially in terms of climate change,” said Dr Kao.

This meeting reflects the commitment of both parties to continue to improve mutually beneficial relations and cooperation, as well as strengthen joint efforts in creating solutions to pressing global issues. It is hoped that this synergy will have a positive impact not only for Azerbaijan and ASEAN but also for the entire international community. (AT Network)
