ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has officially arrested Iwan Setiawan Lukminto, the former President Director and current President Commissioner of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), on Tuesday night, May 20, 2025.

The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption involving bank loans granted to the prominent textile company.

This development marks a significant step in the AGO’s probe into one of the most high-profile corporate scandals in Indonesia’s textile industry.

The AGO’s spokesperson, Harli Siregar, confirmed the arrest, stating that prosecutors from the Special Crimes Division (Jampidsus) took Iwan into custody at his residence in Solo, Central Java, around midnight.

“Investigators apprehended an individual with the initials IS on Tuesday night. He has since been transferred to our headquarters in South Jakarta for further questioning as a witness,” said Harli during a press briefing on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Corruption Probe into Bank Loans to Sritex

The AGO previously launched a general investigation into alleged corruption related to the disbursement of bank loans to PT Sritex. However, the specific bank involved has not yet been disclosed.

“It is still a general investigation. No suspects have been named, and we are currently assessing all relevant aspects, including the banking institution involved,” Harli explained.

The investigation comes months after Sritex, once a major player in Southeast Asia’s textile sector, was declared bankrupt by the Semarang Commercial Court on October 21, 2024. The company officially ceased operations on February 28, 2025.

Who Is Iwan Setiawan Lukminto?

Born in Surakarta, Central Java, on January 22, 1983, Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto is the fourth son of Sritex founder HM Lukminto. Known by his nickname Wawan, he holds a background in Business Administration and is an alumnus of several U.S. institutions: Boston University (2001), Northeastern University (2004), and Johnson & Wales University (2005).

Wawan began his career at Sritex as Director of the Garment Division, later becoming Deputy CEO in 2014. He was appointed CEO in 2023. Despite once being a respected figure in the textile industry, his leadership is now under scrutiny due to the ongoing corruption case.

Beyond his corporate career, Iwan was also active in business organizations, serving as Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) for the Surakarta chapter from 2018 to 2023. (AT Network)
