ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Mardani Ali Sera strongly condemned Israel’s massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. He urged the global community to take concrete action to stop the brutal attacks.
This Israeli attack occurred when Gazans were starving and lacking basic necessities on Tuesday, March 18, killing 429 people, including children.
“This attack must be stopped immediately. After two weeks of blocking access to humanitarian aid to Gaza and delaying the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to commit genocide against Gazans. This is clearly unacceptable, condemnable, and must be stopped immediately. The international community, especially the UN Security Council, must immediately take concrete steps,” Mardani emphasized in a written statement received on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
He added that if the world only condemns without real action, Israel will continue to carry out its brutal actions.
“The world cannot remain silent. It must act now. This involves many things,” he said.
Mardani also conveyed three main reasons why the Israeli attacks must be stopped immediately.
First, to save the lives of more than two million Gazans, including children, women, and prisoners.
Second, to maintain the credibility of the UN as a forum for resolving global conflicts.
Third, to prevent unilateral actions that could have a broad impact on regional and global stability, including escalation in the Red Sea.
In addition, he also invited the world to oppose the United States’ policy of continuing to support Israel unconditionally.
“This is the right moment to oppose the US’s bias towards Israel. Currently, the US is even involved in a trade war with its allies in Europe,” he added.
Regarding the role of BKSAP in stopping the genocide in Gaza, Mardani stated that his party would bring this issue to the global parliamentary forum.
“Early April, we will attend the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Uzbekistan. We are exploring cooperation with countries that have similar views to pass an emergency item resolution to call for real action to stop Israel’s crimes,” concluded Mardani. (AT Network)
