ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Aircraft manufacturer from the United States (US), Boeing, said it was completing an order for 24 F-15EX fighter aircraft from the Indonesian government.
Boeing Indonesia Country Managing Director Zaid Alami said the aircraft order was in the finalization stage. Meanwhile, this order was submitted directly by the Minister of Defense who is also the elected president, Prabowo Subianto.
“We believe this is the perfect product to increase Indonesia’s defense capabilities,” explained Alami at a Boeing Media Briefing in Jakarta on Monday, June 10 2024.
It is said that the order for the F-15EX aircraft was carried out at the company’s facilities in St. Petersburg. Louis, State of Missouri, USA. However, Alami did not specify the purchase price of the 24 aircraft.
Through this sale, Boeing also intends to expand partnerships with stakeholders in the Indonesian aviation industry.
Alami said that his party was open to collaboration starting from training, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), to development on the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) side.
Quoting a press release on the Ministry of Defense’s official website on Monday, June 10 2024, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto again strengthened the TNI by signing a memorandum of understanding committing to purchasing 24 new F-15EX fighter aircraft from the US in August 2023.
Meanwhile, the F-15EX fighter jet is a 4.5 generation fighter jet. The signing of the memorandum of understanding took place at The Boeing Company, St. Louis, Missouri. Apart from that, the US has also provided a special code for Indonesia to use the F-15EX, namely F-15IDN.
The F-15EX fighter aircraft is the latest variant of the F-15 aircraft family which has been in service for a long time. This aircraft has several advantages, including that the F-15EX can carry up to 29,500 pounds (around 13,380 kilograms) of payload. This makes it capable of carrying more weapons than previous generation fighters.
Then, the F-15EX also has high engine performance because it is equipped with a modern engine which provides more speed and agility to the aircraft. In addition, the aircraft structure is designed to have a service life of up to 20,000 flight hours, which gives it advantages in terms of durability and long operational range.
Then, the F-15EX is equipped with an advanced radar system and other avionics that allow the aircraft to detect and track targets with high accuracy. (ATN)
