ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — A major opportunity is opening for Indonesian students seeking to study overseas without paying tuition fees.
The Government of Brunei Darussalam has officially opened the Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship (BDGS) for Indonesian nationals for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Through this fully funded scholarship program, eligible Indonesian students can pursue Diploma, Undergraduate (Bachelor’s), and Master’s degrees at five leading universities in Brunei Darussalam, complete with tuition waiver, monthly allowance, accommodation, health insurance, and round-trip airfare.
According to an official letter from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam (No. B-00475/BSBEGAWAN/251222), BDGS is a flagship scholarship program administered by the Brunei government to strengthen international academic cooperation, particularly with Indonesia.

The BDGS program partners with the following institutions:
– Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
– Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
– Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
– Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
– Politeknik Brunei
Scholarship Benefits: Tuition-Free Study Plus Monthly Allowance
Successful applicants will receive:
– Round-trip economy class airfare
– Monthly personal allowance of BND 500 (approximately USD 370)
– On-campus accommodation
– Health insurance coverage
– Full tuition fee exemption
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Maximum age as of 1 July 2026:
– 25 years old for Diploma and Bachelor’s programs
– 35 years old for Master’s programs
English language proficiency, proven by one of the following:
– TOEFL score of 550 or above
– IELTS score of 6.0 or above
– GCE ‘O’ Level Credit 6 or IGCSE English Grade C
Priority is given to applicants who have not previously studied in Brunei
Applicants must not be permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam
