ASIATODAY.ID, DENPASAR – The largest cruise ship Celebrity Solstice docked at Benoa Harbor, Bali, Monday (30/10/2023).
The Celebrity Solstice cruise with a displacement of 121,878 GT carries 2,776 passengers and 1,168 crew members.
Pelindo Strategy Director Prasetyo, explained that the docking of Royal Caribbean Group cruise ships indicates that Benoa Harbor is capable of becoming a docking place for large cruise ships.
“Our pier is also quite long, 500 meters in total, so it is able to serve large cruise ships without any problems,” explained Prasetyo, Monday (30/10/2023).
The Celebrity Solstice cruise ship itself is planned to dock for two days at Benoa Harbor after previously sailing from Sydney to Singapore.
After getting off the ship, the tourists then boarded the vehicles that had been prepared. They will travel to a number of destinations such as Ubud, Garura Wisnu Kencana (GWK), Taman Ayun to Kintamani.
The arrival of this ship increases the number of ship arrivals at Benoa Harbor in 2023 by 50 ships with a total of 74,461 passengers.
Pelindo predicts that cruise ship visits at Benoa port will continue to increase in 2024, reaching 52 ships and up to 89,400 passengers.
Deputy for Coordination of Maritime Sovereignty and Energy, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment Jodi Mahardi appreciated the arrival of the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship.
According to him, the arrival of this cruise ship is a momentum for Indonesia to show its potential and ability as a world tourism home port.
“We see this as an opportunity after we have succeeded in bringing in and docking a large cruise ship. In the future, we will strengthen port connectivity in the west and east so that the distribution of tourists can be more even,” said Jodi Mahardi. (AT Network)
