ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Daihatsu and Toyota Japan were involved in a scandal involving deviations from side crash safety test procedures for their car models, causing widespread impacts, including in Indonesia.
Daihatsu Global has released the affected models in Indonesia, including the Toyota Avanza, Veloz, Yaris Cross and Raize.
Based on documents released by Daihatsu Motor on Wednesday, December 20 2023, PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) is included in the list of car manufacturers involved in violating regulations.
Daihatsu and Toyota Japan were involved in a scandal involving deviations from side crash safety test procedures for their car models.
“Today we decided to temporarily stop deliveries of all models developed by Daihatsu which are currently being produced, both in Japan and abroad,” said President Director of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd Soichiro Okudaira in an online conference on the Daihatsu YouTube channel, Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
Daihatsu Global has released the affected models in full via official broadcast.
The following are produced and sold in Indonesia.
- Toyota Rush, launched in January 2018, is produced by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor for the export market
- Daihatsu Xenia, launched in November 2021, produced by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor for the domestic market
- Toyota Agya, launched in March 2023, is produced by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor for the export market
- Toyota Avanza, launched in November 2021, is produced by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) for the domestic and export markets
- Toyota Veloz, launched in November 2021, is produced by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) for the domestic and export markets
- Toyota Raize, launched in April 2021, is produced by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor for the export market
- Toyota Yaris Cross, launched in August 2023, is produced by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) for the export market.
Thus, the company decided to temporarily stop deliveries of all models developed by Daihatsu, both in Japan and abroad.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to customers and stakeholders,” said Hiroki.
The company has reported and consulted with relevant parties, including the ministries of defense, infrastructure, transport and tourism as well as relevant authorities in each country, and is continuing the necessary actions. (AT Network)
