ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – An explosion incident occurred again in the nickel smelting industrial area, Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, Friday, October 25, 2024, at around 16:40 WITA.
The explosion occurred in the area of PT Dexin Steel Indonesia (DSI) Morowali, one of the companies operating in IMIP in the Stainless steel sector. As a result of the explosion, one worker was killed.
For this incident, the Mining and Energy Industry Workers Union (SBIPE) Morowali criticized PT DSI and PT IMIP because incidents like this have occurred frequently.

Henry demanded that PT IMIP and PT DSI be held responsible for the incident. He also emphasized that the company must provide a guarantee of the survival of the victim’s family.
Not only that, SPIBE Morowali also urged the government to conduct an Occupational Health and Safety (K3) audit of the company.
“We also urge the government to conduct a K3 audit of the entire company in the IMIP area,” he said.
So far, the cause of the explosion is not yet known for sure and IMIP is still investigating.
