ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – For foreign travelers who want to travel to Thailand, it is best to prepare cash.
The reason is, the Thai Immigration Service has set several conditions that foreign citizens must fulfill to be able to enter the country.
One of them is to bring cash of at least 20,000 bath per person. This requirement applies to every foreign citizen who makes a short visa-free visit to Thailand as proof of financial ability to support life while in Thailand.
“Based on open sources, it is recommended to bring a minimum of THB 15,000-20,000 bath cash per person,” wrote the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok via the Instagram account @Indonesianbangkok.
Apart from that, foreign citizens going to Thailand must also have a passport valid for at least 6 months, proof of a return ticket or onward ticket to another destination country, and proof of accommodation or hotel reservations while in Thailand.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok has also reminded that in accordance with the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979), granting permission or refusing entry to foreign nationals into Thai territory is the full authority of Thai Immigration officers.
In particular, the Indonesian embassy in Bangkok gave this advice to Indonesian citizens who were going to Thailand. This follows frequent complaints from Indonesian citizens who are not allowed to enter Thailand.
“As additional information, this appeal was issued considering the increasing frequency of the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok receiving complaints from Indonesian citizens who are not allowed to enter Thailand,” he continued.
The Indonesian embassy said that if there are Indonesian citizens who need consular assistance to enter Thailand, they are welcome to contact the Indonesian embassy hotline in Bangkok, namely +66 92 903 1103.
As is known, based on Thai Immigration regulations, foreign citizens visiting Thailand are required to show proof of financial ability to support life in Thailand. (AT Network)
