“Hunger is the biological expression of social disease,” Lula stressed, citing Brazilian scientist Josué de Castro.

President Lula also said that this alliance aims to build international recommendations, effective public policies and sustainable funding sources.

Currently, the alliance has received support from 81 countries, 26 international organizations, 9 financial institutions, as well as various foundations and non-governmental organizations.

“This alliance was born at the G20, but its aims are global,” said President Lula da Silva.

The launch of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty is one of the important milestones at this G20 Summit, which confirms the collective commitment to building a more just and prosperous world.
