ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The largest technology company from the United States (US), Google, is committed to investing US$ 2 billion in Malaysia. The investment includes building the first data center and Google Cloud in the region.
Based on a statement by Alphabet Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat, this commitment marks Google’s largest investment plan in the Southeast Asia region.
This investment will create around 26,500 jobs in various sectors in Malaysia, including health, education and finance. The total value of the impact of Google’s investment on the Malaysian economy is estimated to be greater than the capital invested, namely US$3.2 billion.
Malaysia will join the 40 regions and 121 zones currently operating worldwide to meet the growing demand for cloud services locally and globally, as well as AI literacy programs for Malaysian students and educators. (ATN)
