Hyundai Ioniq 5. Doc

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia announced a recall of its Ioniq 5 and 6 electric car products related to software updates for integrated charge control unit (ICCU) components.

Hyundai Motors Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto said the recall applies to all units circulating in Indonesia since its launch. The recall was carried out to improve the quality of battery charging so that electric cars are more optimal.

“We invite Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6 owners in Indonesia to update the ICCU component software for a seamless and more optimal battery charging experience,” he said in a written statement, Monday, May 6 2024.

It is said that software updates to the ICCU component were carried out to provide a seamless and more optimal battery charging experience for the Ioniq 5 and 6.

Meanwhile, the recall includes a checking and work process that only takes approximately 20 minutes and is carried out by certified technicians from Hyundai Global. This inspection is carried out completely at no cost.

“For information, software updates for electric vehicles released by Hyundai Global are specifically aimed at countries with certain vehicle identification numbers (VIN) based on needs and improvements for a worry-free driving experience,” he said.

Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) shows that wholesale sales of Hyundai electric cars reached 407 units during January-March 2024, down 61.08% from 1,046 units compared to the same period last year. In detail, Hyundai’s electric car sales consisted of 395 units of Ioniq 5, 11 units of Ioniq 6 and 1 unit of Genesis EV. (ATN)
