ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) said that Indonesia’s aviation security performance is very good, especially in terms of compliance and implementation of International Aviation Security Standards and Recommendations.
ICAO has carried out the Universal Security Audit Program Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transportation. The audit was carried out through Protocol Questions and supervision of operations at Soekarno – Hatta International Airport and Juanda Airport in Surabaya on 24 June – 5 July 2024. The audit and supervision aims to assess the level of compliance with ICAO Annex 17 – Aviation Security and security related Standards from ICAO Annex 9 – Facilitation.
The ICAO team has sent the results of the Aviation Security Supervision Audit with an Effective Implementation (EI) score of 88.53% and it is assessed that there are no critical issues of Significant Security Concern (SSec).
“This success shows that Indonesia’s aviation security performance is very well recognized internationally, especially in terms of compliance and implementation of International Aviation Security Standards and Recommendations,” said the Director General of Civil Aviation, Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, M. Kristi Endah Murni in an official statement, Friday, September 6, 2024.
Kristi revealed that achieving an EI value of 88.53% was above the average target EI value of the Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP) in 2027, namely 75%. The audit was carried out by the ICAO Team by submitting 498 Protocol Questions which are ICAO’s main tool for assessing effective implementation which covers nine USAP Audit areas, namely: Regulatory Framework and the National Civil Aviation Security System (LEG); Training of Aviation Security Personnel (TRG); Quality Control Functions (QCF); Airport Operations (OPS); Aircraft and In-Flight Security (IFS); Passenger and Baggage Security (PAX); Cargo, Catering and Mail Security (CGO); Response to Acts of Unlawful Interference (AUI); Security Aspects of Facilitation (FAL).
Previously in 2015, ICAO carried out the same audit in Indonesia, namely the Universal Security Audit Program Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP CMA), and the USAP CMA Limited Scope On-Site Audit of Indonesia in 2017, with an assessment that also exceeded the Global Effective Implementation score. Aviation Security Plan (GASeP) established by ICAO.
Kristi expressed her thanks and appreciation to all parties and other stakeholders as well as the public who use air transportation in Indonesia who also contribute to complying with aviation security regulations.
