ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government continues to accelerate the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 (ACV 2045) as a strategic step toward building a more resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centered ASEAN region. This commitment was reaffirmed by Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono during a meeting with the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, held at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, June 5, 2025.
The meeting was a follow-up to the outcomes of the 46th ASEAN Summit held in May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where ACV 2045 was officially adopted as the long-term blueprint for ASEAN’s development over the next two decades.
In his remarks, Foreign Minister Sugiono highlighted the necessity of reinforcing ASEAN’s internal structures and mechanisms to ensure the long-term vision is implemented effectively and inclusively.

“We need to strengthen the role of the CPR, optimize communication channels in Jakarta, and enhance the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Headquarters based in Jakarta. All these elements must work synergistically for ASEAN to respond adaptively to global and regional challenges,” Minister Sugiono emphasized.
Sugiono also underscored the strategic role of the Committee of Permanent Representatives in supporting the comprehensive development of the ASEAN Community, including cross-pillar coordination—political-security, economic, and socio-cultural—as well as external relations with ASEAN’s strategic partners.
“The CPR is the main actor ensuring the continuity of ASEAN’s collective agenda. Solid coordination will determine our success in realizing the Vision 2045,” he said.
Timor-Leste to Join as the 11th ASEAN Member
The meeting was also marked by the presence of the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, following the official decision for Timor-Leste to join as ASEAN’s 11th member this year.
“We warmly welcome Timor-Leste into the ASEAN family. This historic step will strengthen regional integration and solidarity,” Minister Sugiono remarked.
ASEAN Community Vision 2045 is designed as a long-term blueprint for a resilient ASEAN region, adaptive to technology and changing times, and focused on the welfare of its people.
As the host country of the ASEAN Secretariat and a key driver of regional integration, Indonesia is committed to continuing its central role in facilitating and overseeing the implementation of this vision. (AT Network)
