ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, deported a woman with the initials AG, who was wanted by the Philippine Government on suspicion of human trafficking and money laundering.
Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement, Saffar Muhammad Godam, explained that AG was deported on Thursday at 18.00 WIB in collaboration with the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.
“Next, the AG will continue the legal process in his country,” said Godam in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, September 5 2024.
Godam explained that the Philippine Immigration Bureau sent a letter to the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration on August 19 2024 regarding special attention to four Filipino citizens, including AG, who were suspected of being involved in immigration crimes.
“Immigration crimes include falsifying identity on travel documents and criminal acts of human trafficking. Based on this letter, the Directorate General of Immigration has implemented a ban on AG and his group with the initials SG, WG and KO,” he said.
AG was arrested by the police on Tuesday, September 3 evening in Curug, Tangerang Regency, Banten.
Before being deported, AG had been questioned by the police regarding suspected criminal acts.
On the other hand, AG’s colleagues, namely SG and KO, were arrested by immigration officers at Batam Center, Riau Islands. They were successfully found through inspection and search on the Foreigner Reporting application.
SG and KO were taken to the Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement on Wednesday, August 21. The next day, Thursday, August 22, the two of them were deported under guard by the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.
“We, together with the Indonesian National Police, continue to pursue WG. The Indonesian and Philippine governments continue to coordinate to immediately secure the foreign national,” said Godam.
He stated that the Directorate General of Immigration is committed to eradicating transnational crime which contributes to the security of the ASEAN region, as agreed at the ASEAN Director General of Immigration Meeting last August. (AT Network)
